1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored by the browser on the user's device while browsing a website. Alongside cookies there are similar technologies (for example localStorage, sessionStorage, application identifiers) that allow information to be stored on, or read from, the user's device. In what follows, unless stated otherwise, the term «cookie» covers all of these technologies.
2. Which technologies this site uses
This site uses strictly necessary technical cookies and technologies only, required to operate the service. It does not use profiling or marketing cookies, nor any third-party analytics or tracking tools.
Under Order no. 231/2021 of the Italian Data Protection Authority, strictly necessary technical cookies do not require the user's consent and no opt-in mechanism is provided. The obligation to give this notice still applies.
3. Details of the technologies used
3.1 Technical session storage (localStorage)
To enable access to the personal area and the administration area, the application stores a session identifier associated with the authenticated user in the browser's localStorage. Without this storage, authenticated access to restricted areas is not technically possible.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| fbov.participant.session | Keeps the user's session in the personal area after signing in via the email link. | Persistent until sign-out or manual deletion. |
| fbov.staff.session | Keeps the operator's session in the administrative back-office. | Persistent until sign-out or manual deletion. |
| fbov.cookie-notice | Records that the cookie notice has been dismissed, so it is not shown again on every page. | Persistent until manual deletion. |
| fbov.locale | Records the language chosen by the user (Italian or English), so that subsequent pages are served in the same language. | Persistent until manual deletion. |
3.2 Cookies and storage of the authentication service
The authentication service is provided by Firebase Authentication (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). That service may set cookies or localStorage/IndexedDB entries that are technically necessary to maintain the authentication session (for example: session tokens, UID identifiers, email verification status). These are technical cookies only and are not used for profiling purposes.
Further information is available in Google's privacy notice: policies.google.com/privacy .
3.3 Technical server logs
The hosting infrastructure (AWS Amplify, Ireland region) and the database (Cloud Firestore, EU region) automatically generate technical logs containing IP address, user agent, timestamp and requested URL, used solely to ensure the security and correct operation of the service. These are not cookies but server-side records, mentioned here for completeness.
4. Third-party cookies
With the exception of the technical storage of the authentication service already described in section 3.2, the site sets no third-party cookies. In particular, there are none of the following:
- web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, etc.);
- advertising pixels (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight, TikTok, etc.);
- social plugins;
- embedded third-party videos or widgets;
- third-party chat or customer support services.
5. Legal basis
The use of cookies and technologies strictly necessary to operate the service is carried out pursuant to Art. 122(1) of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and Arts. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (performance of pre-contractual measures / the contract, and the Controller's legitimate interest in the security and operation of the service).
6. How to manage and disable cookies
Users may delete or disable browser cookies and storage at any time through their browser settings. Disabling technical cookies and session storage will prevent access to the restricted areas of the site but will not affect the ability to read the public pages.
